There is no more iconic symbol of human multitasking than the proverbial nine-arm Shiva, shown in the image above. At times, everyone feels like a Shiva, from the father juggling a cell phone while changing diapers to a businesswoman driving to an appointment, reading a GPS display and chatting with a colleague in the back seat. It’s common to see people in a gym listening to music on an iPod while watching a TV program and jogging on a treadmill.
